Camburg - FOX 2.5 Slapper Bump Stop Kit – Toyota Tacoma 2005–2023
Camburg FOX 2.5 Slapper Bump Stop Kit
Take your Tacoma’s front suspension beyond a conventional bump-stop setup with the Camburg FOX 2.5 Slapper Bump Stop Kit. Engineered for high-performance off-road use, this system is designed to dramatically improve bottom-out control during hard impacts, deep whoops, aggressive terrain, and high-speed G-outs.
Instead of allowing the suspension to simply crash into a traditional bump stop near the end of its travel, Camburg’s slapper system uses FOX 2.5 hydraulic bump stops to progressively absorb energy as the suspension approaches full compression. The result is a more controlled, composed suspension when the terrain gets rough.
Why the Camburg Slapper Design?
The key to this system is the slapper-arm configuration.
Camburg positions the hydraulic bump-stop contact point farther outboard on the lower control arm. This creates a more effective motion ratio and allows the bump stop to maintain consistent contact with the slapper arm throughout the bottoming portion of suspension travel.
Unlike a conventional bump-stop arrangement that can interfere with normal suspension movement, the hydraulic bump stop is designed to engage primarily near the end of the suspension stroke. This allows the suspension to remain active and compliant through the normal ride zone, while providing additional damping when the suspension encounters a major impact.
For drivers pushing their Tacoma harder off-road, this provides an important additional layer of suspension control.
FOX 2.5 Hydraulic Bump Stops
At the heart of the system is a pair of FOX 2.5 hydraulic bump stops specifically configured for Camburg’s slapper setup.
Hydraulic bump stops operate similarly to compact shock absorbers. Instead of abruptly stopping suspension movement, they progressively increase resistance as they compress, helping absorb the energy generated during hard bottom-out events.
The FOX bump stops feature a durable Cerakote gray finish, a coating technology also used in FOX’s Trophy Truck racing applications.
Improved Bottom-Out Control
This kit is particularly beneficial for Tacomas driven aggressively through terrain where suspension bottoming is common.
The additional hydraulic damping helps control:
- Hard G-outs and compression events
- Deep whoops
- Washouts and unexpected dips
- Desert and high-speed off-road terrain
- Large trail obstacles
- Hard suspension compression and bottoming
By controlling the final portion of suspension travel, the bump-stop system allows the primary coilovers to concentrate on controlling the vehicle through the normal suspension range.
Purpose-Built Camburg Mounting System
Camburg designed the mounting system specifically around its slapper suspension geometry rather than adapting a universal bump-stop can.
The system utilizes a weld-on frame mounting structure that properly positions the FOX hydraulic bump stops in relation to the lower control arms and slapper mechanism.
Camburg also uses aircraft-style AN mounting hardware at the upper and lower mounting locations. The hardware is selected with the proper grip and shoulder lengths for increased strength in demanding off-road applications.
The slapper arms incorporate rubber contact pads to help reduce noise when the bump-stop system engages.

Installation Requirements
⚠️ Professional installation is strongly recommended.
This is not a simple bolt-on bump-stop kit.
Installation requires fabrication work including welding, and cutting/grinding may be necessary depending on the vehicle and suspension configuration. The supplied mounts are raw metal and should receive an appropriate corrosion-resistant finish after welding and final installation.
Because correct bump-stop positioning and suspension geometry are critical to proper operation, installation should be performed by a qualified off-road suspension or fabrication shop.
Important Compatibility Note
Before ordering, verify that your Tacoma is equipped with a slapper-compatible lower control arm configuration.
This CAM-310181-1 version is the non-UCA-gusset configuration. If your build requires Camburg’s additional upper-control-arm frame gusset/reinforcement system, a different Camburg bump-stop kit configuration should be selected.
Built for Serious Tacoma Suspension Systems
The Camburg FOX 2.5 Slapper Bump Stop Kit is designed for Tacoma owners who have moved beyond basic suspension upgrades and want greater control at the limits of suspension travel.
Whether you're building a high-performance trail truck, desert Tacoma, prerunner-inspired setup, or a premium off-road suspension package, this system adds progressive hydraulic bottom-out control exactly where it is needed—without unnecessarily interfering with suspension movement during normal driving.
Camburg Engineering + FOX 2.5 hydraulic bump-stop technology delivers a serious upgrade for Tacoma owners looking for increased control, durability, and confidence when the suspension reaches its limits.
