BP-51 Internal Bypass Technology

BP-51 stands for Bypass 51mm, referring to the shock's 51mm bore and position-sensitive internal bypass design.

Unlike a conventional shock that provides relatively consistent damping throughout its travel, BP-51 uses bypass zones to vary damping depending on where the shock is in its stroke.

This provides a comfortable and controlled ride through normal suspension movement while progressively increasing damping as the suspension approaches the ends of its travel.

The result is excellent control over rough terrain without sacrificing everyday ride quality.

Adjustable Compression & Rebound

One of the biggest advantages of BP-51 is the ability to independently tune both compression and rebound damping.

Compression Adjustment controls how quickly the suspension compresses when encountering bumps, dips, and terrain.

Rebound Adjustment controls how quickly the suspension extends after being compressed.

With multiple adjustment positions available, you can tune the suspension around your Tacoma's setup and how you use the truck.

Front Suspension

All configurations include the premium BP-51 front suspension system.

Choose Your Rear Suspension

Select the rear configuration that best matches how your Tacoma is built and the amount of constant weight it carries.

Stock Rear Height / Stock Load

Ideal for customers who want the BP-51 shock upgrade and approximately 2" of front lift while retaining the factory rear suspension height.

This configuration does not include replacement rear leaf springs.

Best for: Daily-driven Tacomas and lighter builds that do not require additional rear lift or load capacity.

2" Rear Lift / Standard Load

Adds OME rear leaf springs and approximately 2" of rear lift for a complete front-and-rear suspension upgrade.

Best for: Daily drivers, camping setups, moderate overland builds, and Tacomas carrying lighter constant accessory loads.

2" Rear Lift / 660 lb Constant Load

Designed for heavier Tacoma builds carrying approximately 660 lbs of constant additional rear weight.

This configuration uses heavy-load OME rear leaf springs to properly support permanently installed equipment.

Important: The 660 lb rating refers to constant additional weight, not occasional cargo. Do not select the heavy-load springs simply because you occasionally carry heavy items.

Complete your BP-51 suspension system with optional Old Man Emu Upper Control Arms (UCA0005).

Lifting the front suspension changes factory suspension geometry. OME UCAs are engineered specifically for lifted applications and help provide improved alignment geometry while maintaining proper suspension operation.

Choose:

• Factory Upper Control Arms – Retains your existing factory UCAs
• OME Upper Control Arms – Adds a pair of OME UCA0005 upper control arms

For customers building a complete overland suspension system, the OME UCA option is recommended.
